glycerin. made naturally

See that shine...thats natural glycerin. This is our raspberry patchouli soap right out of the oven.

See that shine...thats natural glycerin. This is our raspberry patchouli soap right out of the oven.

Yep! Bet ya didn’t know – making soap from scratch…glycerin is produced naturally.

Glycerin is a humectant, meaning it draws water from the air, and a natural by-product of the saponification process, making natural soap the best for your skin and well-being.

Why is Lolablue soap better than store-bought, well one thing is…its REAL SOAP!

The commercial soap bars in grocery stores are actually synthetic (bad for you) detergents.
Commercial soap makers remove the glycerin from their soap and then sell it to the cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries.

At Lolablue, we create our soap the old fashion way from scratch with natural raw ingredients. Using the hot process method of soapmaking which means we cook our soap, then let it cure for 2 weeks before selling. The longer the cure, the harder the bar and the longer it will last.

We use only all natural vegetable plant oils- olive, coconut & castor, then we superfat the batch with shea & cocoa butter for over the top moisturizing benefits.

Then we infuse essential oils and/or phlathate-free fragrance oils for scent, we use only natural colorants such as turmeric root, brewed organic coffee, clays, mineral oxides & spices add texture.

Conserve water & shower with a HAPPY friend. :)

More Soap. Less Money. Great Value for Locals.

No soap goes to waste at Lolablue -we make soap cakes & balls.

Did you realize our cakes, balls and ends are an incredible value?  (More bang for your buck)

Soap Cake - Available only at Punta Gorda Farmers Market.

Soap Cake - Available only at Punta Gorda Farmers Market.

We pass on savings to our  local lolablue soap lovers! (only available at our local farmers markets)

soap cakes are 3oz. for $3

soap balls are 6oz. for $4. Thats an AWESOME value!  (Since our reg. soap bars are about 4.3 – 4.5 oz. and $5.50.)

Here is how we reduce and reuse any leftover soap…

After making a batch of soap the leftovers get made into soap cakes, then when we trim the loaf the excess gets made into soap balls, when a loaf gets cut the ends are sold at our local market. No waste round here!

REMEMBER… Quanities & scent availability is limited from week to week.

Every Saturday – Come see us – Punta Gorda Farmers Market 8am-noon.

North Port Farmers Market – CLOSED till Oct.

Where did you get the name – Lolablue?

Posted in Uncategorized on August 13, 2009 by lolablueliving

Everyone always asks, here you go…
One of my best friends Pete gave me the nickname “Lola” many moons ago for my free-spirited days of dancing till 2am and enjoying everything Barry Manilow – Copacabana was my theme song. Everybody sing along – “Her name was Lola she was showgirl with yellow feathers in her hair and a dress cut down to there”. LOL

Blue came from the wide open beautiful sky -I love taking pictures of the sky and one of my inspirations is “Live – skys the limit”.

I love trees too!

I love trees too!

Put the two together and there you have it – Lolablue.

Maybe on my 40th birthday I can go see Mr. Manilow in Vegas!! :)

Our Skyclad Sugar Scrub- It’s no ordinary sugar scrub.

Posted in Uncategorized on August 13, 2009 by lolablueliving

Did u know? Most sugar scrubs on the markets are simply an oil like sweet almond oil, sugar then added fragrance and some chemical preservatives thats it.

At Lolablue, we use ingredients you can pronounce and we don’t mess around. (well at least not on the clock – well ok sometimes) :)

We load it up with 4 different healing butters, 5 vitamin packed oil, pure essential oils, 2 types of sugar, neem oil, vitamin E and natural preservatives. We are proud to tell you about our ingredients,  their benefits and where they came from. We only work with suppliers who are conscious about high quality natural fair trade raw ingredients.

SUPER COOL! – Our Skyclad was featured in Pre-Oscar Party Swag Bags in Beverly Hills in Feb. 2009. Party was hosted by The Power Player Magazine.

If your around Sarasota, FL…Stop into PURE Salon & Boutique or BD Michaels Organic Hair Salon. Both spas use our Skyclad on clients for pedicures. Experience it!

THE NATURAL SUGARS:

Turbinado Raw Sugar (Fair-Trade): Lolablue uses: Our Fair Trade Raw Cane (turbinado) Sugar, also known as Demerara- or Turbinado-style sugar, is made by crushing the freshly-cut sugar cane to squeeze out the juice, rich in vitamins and minerals. It is not blended, colored or chemically refined. Being Fair Trade guarantees that the farmers’ cooperatives that produced this sugar are paid directly for the cane grown and milled.

Natural Sugar (organic): Lolablue uses: Natural sugar is a smaller grain used as an exfoliant, helping reveal softer glowing skin.

THE NATURAL BUTTERS:

Mango Butter: Lolablue uses: Mango Butter contains a high content of fatty acids. It is a soft solid at room temperatures, but melts on contact at skin temperatures and disperses evenly. Mango Butter may be used for cutaneous dryness to assist in moisturization after exposure to sun and other harsh elements.

Soy Butter (extra cold-pressed): Lolablue uses: The isoflavones (Genistein and Daidzein), saponins and the natural Vitamin E in soy, primarily genistein and disdzein, have been well researched by scientists for their antioxidants and phytoestrogenic properties. The phytoestrogens naturally present in soy lipids are beneficial in the regeneration of skin and help keep women looking youthful as they increase female hormones in skin. Soy lipids are high in natural Vitamin E, lecithin and phosphotydil choline which is instrumental in skin repair and regeneration. The antioxidants in soy lipids also help in eliminating free oxygen radicals that can lead to skin damage and skin cancer. regeneration.

Shea butter (natural, unrefined, organic): Lolablue uses: Shea butter that is cold expeller pressed and carbon treated to remove the impurities. This unrefined shea butter doesn’t go through extra carbon treatment steps as our refined shea butters do. There are no impurities left whatsoever. Shea is extremely moisturizing and gentle to the skin.

Jojoba Butter (cold-pressed): Lolablue uses: Jojoba oil contains monosaturated long chain C20, C22 fatty acids with a relative high content of eicosenoic acid. In cosmetic preparations, the feel and behavior of Jojoba Butter is somewhat similar to that of shea butter, but with increased oxidative stability.

THE NATURAL OILS:

Apricot kernal oil: Lolablue uses: Apricot Kernel is a light but rich oil which is especially good for sensitive skin, as well as for and skin that is inflamed or dry. It is particularly helpful for dehydrated, delicate, mature or sensitive skin. It has a high vitamin A content.

Sweet almond oil: Lolablue uses: Sweet almond oil is a favorite carrier oil for essential oil aromatherapy blends, although it’s often used by itself for moisturizing skin. The oil has no scent and is a great nutrient for softening and conditioning the skin. It’s been known to be especially suitable for eczema, itchy, dry and inflamed skin.
Since it contains glucosides, vitamins and minerals, it makes a fabulous massage oil.

Neem oil (cold-pressed): Lolablue uses: Neem oil that is cold pressed, no solvents are used in its processing and its origin is from India.
Neem is a Nature’s Gift to mankind. “ The tree that purifies,” “ the wonder tree,” “the tree of the 21st century,” and “a tree for solving global problems,” are a recognition of its versatility. Neem contains vitamin E and other essential amino acids. Neem oil is an excellent moisturizing oil that contains compounds with historical and scientific validity as medicinals. The concentrated essential fatty acids help to restore moisture and elasticity to the skin while it disinfects and heals. Neem oil generally enhances skin health and the natural immunity of your skin, which is one of the biggest factors in psoriasis.

100% pure Jojoba oil (wildcrafted & solvent-FREE): Lolablue uses: Jojoba is very similar in composition to human natural skin oils. It penetrates the skin rapidly to nourish it and also softens and moisturizes mature and dry skin. Jojoba helps to heal inflamed skin conditions such as psoriasis or any form of dermatitis.

Grapeseed oil (solvent-FREE): Lolablue uses: Grapeseed oil is high in vitamin E and contains essential fatty acid and linoleic acid
(also known as Omega 6). It is low in saturated fat, contains natural chlorophyll and valuable antioxidants (known as proanthocyninidins).
This oil is very rich in vitamins and minerals. Since it is slightly astringent, it tightens and tones the skin.

Vegetable Glycerin (kosher): Lolablue uses: Glycerin has long been used as a benign solvent, lubricant, humectant, emollient and preservative.
Our glycerin is edible and MADE IN THE U.S. WITHOUT INGREDIENTS FROM CHINA.

Rosemary extract: Lolablue uses: Rosemary extract is a food grade product and a natural preservative. Prevents rancidity in products in which vegetable/plant oils have been used. This product is made up of oil soluble antioxidant compounds. It has no additives, it is made of 100% rosemary oleoresin.
